This year’s Hormel Health Labs Student Grant recipients have been announced!

The 2019 Hormel Health Labs Student Grant recipients have been announced. There were three winners this year; Adrianna Baucom of Colorado Springs, CO, Lashonda Casillas of Aurora, CO, and Sheila Kisner of Quasqueton, IA.

The student grants are a partnership between Hormel Health Labs and the Association of Nutrition & Foodservice Professionals (ANFP). Each grant is available for up to $1,000, with the goal of covering tuition and certification exam registration costs for those looking to elevate their education in the nutrition realm. The grants are available for anyone accepted into or currently enrolled in an ANFP-approved training program, and are especially useful for those already working a full-time job and looking to gain additional certifications.

For recipient Lashonda Casillas, this grant is going to help propel her career forward. “ I graduated in 2012 from The Art Institute of Colorado with an Associate of Applied Science degree in culinary arts, and I’m only one semester away from completing the CDM program and sitting for the exam…this grant will go straight towards tuition,” said Casillas. “I’m very excited about the positive impact this credential will have on my career path!”

For those interested in applying in 2020, we’ll be providing additional updates as the application window draws closer in the spring.
